A Friendship Built on Storytelling

James and Jacob have been best friends since childhood. They first met in kindergarten at around five years old and later strengthened their friendship through a youth group during middle school. Over the years, their friendship grew through a shared love of sports, video games, and—most importantly—movies.

They regularly went to their local AMC theater with friends to experience movies on the big screen. Their conversations about films, characters, and stories became a lasting part of their friendship.

James even inspired Jacob to begin collecting Blu-rays at a young age. What started as a simple hobby became a shared appreciation for physical media, filmmaking, and the art of preserving great movies. To this day, both of their collections continue to grow.

But for James, filmmaking was more than a hobby—it was something he had wanted to pursue from the beginning.

A Filmmaker and an Entrepreneur

James knew from an early age that he wanted to make movies. As a child, he would create homemade films for his family, even cutting apart action-figure boxes and drawing his own film cells to create miniature animations that he could run through a flashlight to project images.

That early creativity eventually grew into a professional pursuit of filmmaking.

Jacob, meanwhile, always knew he wanted to build a company but spent years searching for the right opportunity to combine his entrepreneurial ambitions with his interests and passions.

That opportunity came when James approached Jacob with an idea: build a production company together.

The partnership made sense.

James understood the creative side of filmmaking.Jacob understood the business, operational, and entrepreneurial side of building an organization. Together, they could bring those strengths under one roof.

The Beginning of Akimbo Films

In 2025, that idea became Akimbo Films.
Our debut feature film, Let’s Talk About It, represents the first major step in that journey. But it is only the beginning.
Akimbo Films was never created to be confined to one genre, one style, or one type of story. We want the freedom to explore different genres, take creative risks, and tell original stories that leave a lasting impression on audiences.
We are building Akimbo Films around a simple belief:
Great stories can come from anywhere—and we want to tell them.

OUR FUTURE

Akimbo Films is more than a production company. It is the continuation of a friendship that began when two kids met in kindergarten and discovered a shared love for movies.

Today, that childhood passion has evolved into something bigger: a company built on creativity, entrepreneurship, friendship, and the belief that independent filmmakers can create ambitious stories that compete in a constantly evolving industry.

Let’s Talk About It is our first feature.

It will not be our last.

We are just getting started, and our goal is to build a film company capable of telling bold, original stories across generations and genres—while leaving our own mark on the independent film industry.

This is Akimbo Films.

And this is only the beginning.
